Please see the qualifications for the surveillance epi positions that will be housed in the regions below. These positions can be filled as Epi Tech 1, Epi Tech 2 or Epidemiologist, depending on the qualifications of the applicant:

Epi Tech 1

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A baccalaureate degree which includes a total of twenty-four semester hours in any one or a combination of the following: public health, epidemiology, social sciences, biological sciences, behavioral sciences, or nursing.

Epi Tech 2

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A baccalaureate degree which includes a total of twenty-four semester hours in any one or a combination of the following: public health, epidemiology, social sciences, biological sciences, behavioral sciences, or nursing plus one year of professional level experience in epidemiology.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

A master's degree in one of the fields listed above will substitute for all of the required experience.

Epidemiologist

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A master's degree in epidemiology plus one year of professional level experience in epidemiology.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

A master's degree in public health, which included twelve hours in epidemiology, biostatistics, tropical medicine, maternal and child health, occupational health, international health, community health, or any combination, will substitute for the master's degree in epidemiology only.

A master's degree in nursing, a social science, a biological science, or a behavioral science, which included twelve semester hours in epidemiology and/or biostatistics or a combination, will substitute for the master's degree in epidemiology only.

A doctorate degree in veterinary medicine, which included twelve semester hours in epidemiology and/or biostatistics or a combination, will substitute for the master's degree in epidemiology only.

A doctorate degree in epidemiology will substitute for all of the required experience.
